Miracles : Are you a Witness or a Doer

Being on the path, when miracles touch our everyday lives, it is easy to fall into the trap that something special is happening to me, around me... What does one with awareness realize then.. Is there any pitfall around the whole happening?
When miracles happen to you : Are you the Doer or the Witness :)
Is the goal a Siddhi or something more...
Stories are perhaps a great way to bring about the essence of a teaching in a somewhat light, sometimes serious, sometimes humorous undertone.. :)
Sharing a Zen story by Osho.
"When powers start happening in your spiritual growth, the greatest courage is needed not to show them.
It is said of a disciple of Rinzai, a Zen Master, that some other religious Master’s disciple was talking to him and the other Master’s disciple said,
‘Our Master is a man of miracles. He can do anything he wants. I have seen many miracles he has been doing, I have witnessed them myself.
What is the great thing about your Master? What miracles can he do?’
And the disciple of Rinzai said, ‘The greatest miracle that my Master can do is not to do miracles.’

Meditate on it. ‘The greatest miracle my Master can do is not to do miracles.’ When miraculous powers start happening, only the weaklings will do them. The stronger one will not do them — because he knows that now this is another trap. Again the world is trying to pull him back.
This is the last trap. If you can avoid psychic energies, silently, witnessing, if you can pass them by without being entangled by them, without being imprisoned by them, only then do you arrive home. It is a great ensnarement."

Witness of Grace....

Morning began as usual today. Thursdays is follow up day at SSRVM. Got a call from the HOD in the morning that I had to take Kriya early today, so with kriya tape was off to school. I must confess I have become habituated to driving a little fast these days! Well not very fast though, so twas a speed of ard 60kmph. An SUV behind me was speeding and driving too close. Suddenly at the crossroad near Lifestyle, a car suddenly came in the middle of the road in front of me and I braked, coz there was nothing else I could do.

I went completely blank. Heard a very loud noise (movie style), and saw the SUV behind me had brushed the whole car on my side. When I regained sense a few moments later, I realized the car that had come in front of me had disappeared. The driver of the SUV was saying something, but I wasnt listening.

That moment of the braking and the loud noise that I heard, I felt as if I was encircled by somthing which cannot be described in words. 'GRACE.'
Completely untouched, I drove on to school. With the loud noise that I had heard, and the hit to my car, I dreaded the thought of seeing what had happened to the car and drove on. My mind on 'Kriya time was 9 and I had to be there.' Reached school and got down wondering what my car would look like, but apart from some few white scratches on the doors, there was nothing! :)

Looking back, I realize that in those few moments I had been close to complete disaster. All I felt was this protective shade around me. That moment I was a witness of what was happening without being a part of it.

Just yesterday we had gone on a school trip to Iskcon Mandir, Gobinddham Gurudwara and a beautiful old Masjid. The swamiji at Iskcon was so happy to see a whole bunch of over 70 kids and their teachers dancing to the tune of ' hare krishna, hare krishna, krishna krishna hare hare'...They did not allow the kids to leave till all of them got the fruit and mathri prasad. While we were leaving he called me and a gave a generous helping of halwa in my hands. Felt blessed and now feel the trip was for me! Maybe some samskaras got burned... :)

"You are being taken care of" - are Guruji's words that ring in my mind.

On the practical side: I have to take care while driving and not speed up.
ALIVE!! Every moment in faith and eyes full of tears of gratitude..... :)

Simply flowed..

The whirlwind of thoughts in my head, sounds of Ashtavakra and what flowed was this .....

Surface storms that rise and blow away
Life sucks and yet rocks and sways
Turning life towards a new zing
It’s the time to dance n sing!!

Life’s storms tear and rip,
Wave upon wave
Bigger than the biggest wave, stronger than the raging storm
Is the one beautiful youuuuuuuuu
Wherz the time to think when u can sing!!

Lashing waves n strong winds abound
The stillness n calmness
That watches these events and storms unflolding
That eternal witness is youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Forgetting the madness of this world
Let your heart simply swing n sing!!

So So.......... Beautiful!!

"When your attachment shifts from the work at hand to name and fame, it is time to go within.

Be ready to face any challenges that society throws at you. It is said that gold shines more brilliantly, the more it is beaten. When you squeeze sugarcane, it gives you sweetness. Sandalwood when ground, gives fragrance. Stay in your nature even while under pressure. Every situation that comes to us is for our upliftment."

"Connect and attach yourself to the name (the mantra that you receive from the Master). The mantra establishes you in the witness consciousness. Of the mantras, the highest is the 'ajapa jap', the mantra which resonates effortlessly and spontaneously in our consciousness. It is not a doing but a happening. That is So Ham. It resonates eternally. When we experience this with awareness, it becomes meditation."

"You must keep a balance in life. Our jobs are meant to bring people/families together, a means of livelihood. Spirituality is our breath, is of utmost importance. Take these two aspects together. If you are free from family responsibilities, then you can focus on service. Till that time, you must take both together. There are some people who are free to serve humanity without concern for their livelihood. In that situation, do not crave for comforts.

Be content and serve. Anyway, those who are completely devoted to serving society, their needs are fulfilled even as they arise."
